MIAMI (AP) -- Hundreds of immigrant activists and their supporters are organizing protests across Florida against two state immigration bills this week. Some are gathering Monday evening in Little Havana. On Tuesday in Tallahassee, growers and fieldworkers will highlight the bills' effects on agriculture. A day later, Dream Act-eligible students will target lawmakers.

The ACLU argues the decision by Gov. Rick Scott and the Florida Cabinet runs afoul of the federal Voting Rights Act.
BROOKSVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- An inmate at the Hernando County Jail died at a hospital five days after hanging himself with a bed sheet in his cell. Charles Michael Dehart was jailed in July on a count of robbery, possession of a weapon, fleeing and eluding police, battery and a traffic offense.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Lauren Book will arrive in Tallahassee to complete a 1,000-mile walk that's raising awareness about sexual abuse. The 26-year-old was raped by her nanny for several years, ending when she was 16. Now she is making sure offenders are prosecuted and teaching parents and children how to prevent abuse.
