MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A recall effort targeting two Democratic state senators has fallen short at the deadline. Both were seen as two of the safest Democrats targeted by recall organizers.
VERONA, Wis. (AP) -- A south-central Wisconsin school has released its students after a lockdown. Verona High School was placed on lockdown yesterday after two students rolled up to the school -- one claiming to have a gun. No gun was seen or has been recovered.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- A federal judge in Minnesota has sided with NFL players and granted their request for a preliminary injunction to lift the lockout. U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson issued her ruling yesterday evening. The ruling in St. Paul gives the players an early victory in their fight with NFL owners over a new collective bargaining agreement in the $9 billion league. But owners immediately appealed Nelson's ruling. There remains no guarantee that the Super Bowl champion Packers and 31 other teams will start the season on schedule.
