Latest win gives Evans hope

THE victory by Australian Cadel Evans in the Tour of Romandie adds weight to his recent remarks in a French newspaper that he still believes he can win the Tour de France in July.
''I haven't given up on winning the tour. I still believe in it, but perhaps the rest of the world doesn't. I just need a little bit of luck that was missing in 2008 and last year,'' Evans, the 2007 and 2008 runner-up, was quoted as telling L'Equipe by www.cyclingnews.com
On Sunday, Evans (BMC) secured a stunning overall victory in the five-stage Tour of Romandie by placing 26th in the bunch sprint of the fifth and final stage into Geneva that resulted in Briton Ben Swift (Sky) claiming the day's victory from Spaniard Oscar Freire (Rabobank) and Italian Davide Vigano (Leopard).
