BATON ROUGE, La. — Gov. Bobby Jindal has boosted his campaign's bottom line, reporting $9.5 million in his campaign account six months before the fall election.
The Republican governor's latest finance report shows Jindal has raised $1.7 million from January through April 15 and spent $1.3 million, including nearly $500,000 for his first TV ad of the campaign.
The new report was filed Monday with the Louisiana Ethics Administration Program.
The election is Oct. 22. Jindal has no announced major competitors. New Orleans businessman John Georges, who ran for governor four years ago, has put more than $10 million in a campaign account, saying he will seek a statewide office without specifying which one.
Jindal's taken in $13.8 million so far this election cycle. He spent more than $11 million on his 2007 campaign
